Connect With Others? Why Not?

Updated: Feb 23

Each day, I have the opportunity to connect with others, share ideas, learn and try new things. This mindset makes it exciting to take on each day.

I have connected with so many former teammates, coaches, players, childhood friends, colleagues, and employers. Many have provided much needed help and assistance in my life, often years later. Every connection provides BOTH of us the opportunity to strengthen each others lives. It may not happen at that moment but the foundations/connections and the network I am constantly building often comes full circle.

I also understand that while not all of my relationships and connections turn out positive, every experience helps to shape me. While "collisions" with others are great, knowing how much time to invest into each relationship is priceless. More connections equal increased positive and negative engagements, but that is ok. I learn from them all and revisit the connections that work best.

I love this advice from Tony Hsieh, Entrepreneur and CEO of Zappos. "Meet lots of different people without trying to extract value from them. You don't need to connect the dots right away. But if you think about each person as a new dot on your canvas, over time, you'll see the full picture."

Connecting with others on a daily basis. Why not? After all, you have a life canvas to continue to create!
